OUR CHURCH
Central United Methodist Church is the oldest Protestant congregation in Michigan and has been a witness for peace, justice, and equality for more than 200 years. As a Reconciling Congregations within the UMC, Central advocates for the full inclusion of all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, both within the United Methodist Church and in society at large.
Central celebrates diversity of all kinds. Over the years, the pastors and members of Central have been active in the Civil Rights Movement, the LGBTQ Rights Movement, and numerous other campaigns for justice.
Central has also been a consistent voice for peace, actively standing against wars of all kinds over the past 100 years.
